"how to relax soft elytra (yet dessicated one time)"

LAST EDITED ON Mar-20-06 AT 07:20 AM (PST)

I am looking for a method to relax soft elytra (yet dessicated one time)of prionid beetles such as Macrotoma (and other longhorn such as Plectogasterini, ....).
May be one knwows that during dessicating the (soft) elytra are warped or deformed. it gives a bad appearance ! My question is to know if it is possible to relax the elytra and give them a better look.

thanks

Thierry

Ethyl alcohol is always the best way to rehydrate Coleoptera, as well as storing your field catch. Also, it is gentler on the genitalia. Emerse them in a bath of the liquid and allow them to relax.
