To all honest insect collectors worldwide.
Hereby a short note as to what has happend to me. After placing an ad here on insectnet.com where I mentioned that I was looking for rare butterflies from the Congo area, I received many replys. One of them was a Jason Nfor from the town Bamenda in Cameroon. After about a week we came to an deal, and both parties agreed on terms and conditions. He would send me the parcel after I would pay for the shipping costs, so I did through Western-Union. Then the problems started. All of a sudden I needed an license to receive the butterflies, if I wouldn't pay, then the parcel was not going to be forwarded.
(stupid as I was I payed the extra money). The parcel was send out to me, but when I asked for a track & trace number, the one that was send to me started making me suspicious, this number was not correct. Two days later I received an e-mail from a guy that calls himself Bill, from the U.S.A. and he wrote to me that my parcel had been delivered to him and that he would send it back to Cameroon. ( this guy is part of the group and is not from the states, the way he writes english s....ks.) The parcel was now all of a sudden in Brussels - Belgium and Jason Nfor asked me for extra money otherwise the parcel was not going to be released by local customs. Again I payed. I didn't receive anything
and found out that the parcel was never send. Even an socalled local shipping company from cameroon got involved. Sofar I have payed more then $ 600,00 and not received anything. At the same time e-mails are not being answered anymore.
So please be warned for the following e-mail addresses and names :

Eugene Tata : name is used for money-transfer
Francis Kikah : name is used for money-transferJason Nfor is not a person, but a group of people using this name. I don't want to say that all dealers are bad from cameroon, I have had some good experiences as well. We all know that we have to watch out for e-mail addresses
that are from yahoo or hotmail. And lets be warned again, never pay upfront
whatever the story is.
I have found out that all dealers from Cameroon need a license to catch and/or keep live or dried insects and also a export license. Trying to get in touch with the local ministry from forestry and wildlife to get an updated list from all the names. This is not easy, but when I receive this, I will post all the names. |

I have asked a reliable source in Cameroon that could give me a answer on the question : Does this police commisioner exist and is it normal that a local authority is using a free e-mail account instead of a normal server.
The answer was : ,there is no police commionner of that name in the mobile police brigade unit you just gave,may be all is still the swindle story.all i do is supposed to be confidential |

Look what I just received from the socalled local police commisioner after having asked him the following : Dear Mr. Lawrence,
I must say that I was terrified after having read your e-mail. This might sound
unreal now, but could you please give me another e-mail address, it is hard
to believe for me that a local police station hasn't got a standerd server for
there e-mails but a free one like hotmail. At this moment I'm very sceptical
with free e-mail addresses like yahoo and hotmail.
I'm more then willing to help you and especially Pastor James who has started
all this to try and help me out. I can tell you now that I have had contact with them
over the last couple of days, but before I send you these e-mails, I want some
guarantees about the e-mail address that you are using is secure.
Hope to hear from you real soon, so that we can sort this out. Give my regards
to Pastor James.
