"Dynastes hercules ssp. ?"

LAST EDITED ON Oct-20-07 AT 05:33 AM (PST)

Hello,

I have bought an collection of beetles from an other collector, including the specimen below. Now I'm not a specialist for Dynastes and the specimen is not labelled. Can anybody indentify the subspecies?

Best regards, Hannes

   Hello,

I think that it's Dynastes hercules lychi, but I am not positive.

Hello,

I also thougt about lychi, but what makes me unsettled is the second bump at the lower horn. Shouldn't be there only one?

Best regards, Hannes

They are quite variable so I wouldn't be concerned.
Here's a picture of D. h. lichyi that is more similar to your specimen:
