How can i cure an insect problem?

Question: How can i cure an insect problem?

(Posted by: Lilgirl on 2009-12-26 21:51:18)

I own a ground floor condo and have a back yard right outside my bedroom. Throughout the year I get all sorts of bugs coming up through the floor and every little opening in my home. Teeny tiny brown bugs that look like specs until you see them moving. Little red round things that look like beads with legs. Silverfish, spiders, tiny brown worms with bodies the same color as the wood floor in my home, little skinny black worms about an inch long and every time we open up the front door, at least one mosquito, fly or gnat gets in. But the worst is during the first warm months of the year when I get bombarded by ants. Its an infestation for about a week, I attack them, then they disappear. It's as if we're living with a plague, it gets so bad. What do I do to solve these problems? This is not a house, it's a ground floor condo. I don't understand how this could be happening? I've tried filling in all the cracks along the wood floor, but they seem to open up with the winter heat. Are there any websites that discuss these types of problems? Will changing the floor, perhaps, solve this problem? Should I cement my back yard? Thanks to all who answer!!!

Fight them back 1-go online & find things that kill these bugs & where they most likely camp 2-spray the outside & inside walls and all doors;and under the doors & any other cracks 3-get some plaster & seal any holes in your walls 4-find other sealers 5-get someone to put some tar on the roof 6-set foggers off im every room 7-repeat when the prob. comes back again

Pest control...either do it yourself with spray/ granules/ powder or have a professional do it.

Call an exterminator?

Tell your landlord and ask if you can have a pest control service come in. They're the only ones who can solve your problem.

Well there is a product that not too expensive that will do just fine. It's called diatomaceous earth. It will kill any and all bugs, and they will never build a resistance. Usually I only recommend a small hand squirt bottle and you can get that too. But in your case with your having all the problems you are having I'd get one of those garden sprayers too, While your in the garden store get a bag of diatomaceous earth, not the swimming pool filtration grade. It has to be insecticidal with diatoms in it.mix some dish soap, vegetable oil, and diatomaceous earth in each sprayer and fill with water and shake, the dish soap is a contact insecticide, and it has surfactants that keep the ingredients mixed, and the vegetable oil, is a contact insecticide that smothers, but both of these lose there usefulness after drying. However the diatomaceous earth is like the energizer bunny it just keeps on killing. Read some about diatomacious earth in wiki, and you will see that it's been used in Humans and animals as an internal dewormer, it's is feed in the livestock industry to improve the animals well being. this is copied and pasted from the source below-[edit] Pest control Diatomite is also used as an insecticide, due to its physico-sorptive properties. The fine powder absorbs lipids from the waxy outer layer of insects' exoskeletons, causing them to dehydrate. Arthropods die as a result of the water pressure deficiency, based on Fick's law of diffusion. This also works against gastropods and is commonly employed in gardening to defeat slugs. However, since slugs inhabit humid environments, efficacy is very low. It is sometimes mixed with an attractant or other additives to increase its effectiveness. Medical-grade diatomite is sometimes used to de-worm both animals and humans. It is most commonly used in lieu of boric acid, and can be used to help control and eventually eliminate a cockroach infestation. This material has wide application for insect control in grain storage personally I use a product called asorb a trac which is a mined volcanic ash that has the diatoms in it, and I have to buy a 50 lb bag a lot more than most people need. It has many uses, it made nitro glycerin stable and we now call it dynamite after this product. No it has no burning or explosive properties that I am aware of. You do this and you can change the procedures to get even the most persistent of bugs termites roaches ants whatever. It will do the Job. I garden about 1 1/ 2 acres every year. It was the one ingredient to my organic mix that was missing residual. Good Luck
