Question: What non-beneficial animals or insects are attracted to a rain garden?

I am thinking of installing a rain garden. What are the drawbacks? I am concerned that it will become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects that I would not like to attract.

A rain garden must be properly thought out and designed. First you need a low lying area that can accept drainage from higher non pervious areas such as road ways sidewalks etc. then you have to build in a highly absorbent soil and usually put in native plants whose roots will take up a lot of the water.
