What does insect spray do to a spider (or an insect) when you spray it?

You can see them spaz out when sprayed, especially big ones like the Huntsmen we get here in Aussie. I've had so many around the house lately, it's starting to really freak me out, imagining that my house is crawling with them and I jump everytime I see something out the corner of my eye.

The majority of the sprays effect the nervous system...some interfere with the signal from the nerve to muscle, some interfere with the signal nerve to nerve. Actually there is a lot more to it than that simplistic answer, but it's the basic drift.

It gets into their nerve system and kills them

Lar is right. It looks like after the spray is sprayed on a spider it sits there and can't move and has a nervous break down.
