Habronattus americanus Patriotic colors in full display on the decorative scales and setae of Habronattus americanus, a common but elusive inhabitant of scrub sage communities adjacent to pine forests. Several more or less distinctive forms of this species, all geographically isolated, occur throughout the coastal mountain ranges of California. June Lakes, Eastern Sierras, California.
