Catching Coppers

Catching Coppers. This is me on a ridge off of Tioga Pass in the Eastern Sierra Nevada, California. Early August, 2000. About 9,000 feet in elevation. There were at least four species of copper butterflies flying together in this one area. They were caught on the very small flowers blooming underfoot on the path. The meadow below is a habitat for the Behr's Sulfer (Colias behrii) in the month of July.
