Rearing Papilio rutulus
The BugDorm

The BugDorm from BioQuip.com comes in very handy for rearing butterfly larvae. It has several convenient design features: 1) it is virtually pest-proof, 2) it has clear panels for good viewing and net panels for good ventilation, 3) it has both a zippered door and a sleeve opening, and 4) it is collpasible and washable.

Here I have placed potted willows inside with the hatchling rutulus larvae from my hot box harvest. All I have to do is water the plants occasionally. Otherwise, everything is on auto-pilot until, of course, they eat all the food.
