Rearing Papilio rutulus
3rd instar, camouflage

This photo shows how well the 3rd instar rutulus blends in with the environment. Notice how closely their skin texture, color, and markings match the willow leaves. It's uncanny. No wonder they are virtually impossible to find in nature. I have trouble even finding them on my plants in captivity!
