A habitat for the day-flying Sheep Moth: Hemileuca eglanterina. This is Hot Creek. Just a few miles below Mammoth Lakes in the Sierra Nevada. Mammoth Mountain can bee seen in the background. In July and August there are hundreds of eglanterina moths flying in every direction. They seem to be in a big hurry. For what, I don't know. The next picture shows me getting ready to try and catch some.
